Hagensborg has its name from one of the Norwegian settlers, Hagen Christensen. It is strung out along Hwy 20, and mostly invisible along the Bella Coola river between Stenner Creek and Snootli creek (signaled as unincorporated area). The eastern horizon is dominated by two mountins the nearer Mount Nusatsum (2575 m / 8444 ft) und behind it the glacial horn of Mount Defiance (2670 m / 8756 ft). The core of the settlment is around Augsburg church. The nearby Norwegian Heritagew House was moved there from the Stenner creek area. When you travel west you cross Nookliconnik creek (picture shows Mount Saugstad (2907 m / 9532 ft) to the south of the road) and Snootli creel along which ar the buildings of the fish hatchery. |
